The new generation of Threadripper CPUs have proven to be real performers, but aside from their higher core clocks and some other tweaks they are not so different from the first generation of threadripper CPUs. AMD has recently lowered the prices for Gen1 CPUs, making them a very very interesting option.
At this point prices are down 200 dollars or more! Yes, a 12-core with 24 threads is sold for not more than 399 dollars and in some retail stores you'll probably find them even cheaper.
For people who could really use a few more cores, great PCIe lane specifications and/or quad-channel memory, this is an awesome deal.
