AMD Radeon RX470 - HD Orientated

Submitted by Robbie Pyckhout on Thu, 08/04/2016 - 16:12

AMD just launched the new RX470 Graphics card which is praised for its very affordable price and brilliant HD performance. The card is optimized with the newest technologies and supports all recently released graphics APIs to the fullest. Budget gamers will be happy to hear that those new fantastic graphics cards are sold under 200 Euros, making the card a very good choice when the rumors and advertised framerates come through.

What exactly provides a brilliant gaming experience? Of course you can enhance your experience with higher resolutions, bigger screens or even an multi-monitor setup... But if we're looking at just one monitor supporting a maximum resolution of 1080p, you might be pleased by spending no more than 150-160 euros for a good gaming experience. Framerates above 35FPS while keeping frametimes at a steady level, should give you plenty of amusement in most games. However, a Brilliant gaming experience is measured by higher standards, namely a steady framerate above 60FPS and very low frametimes without real shoot-outs. This is what AMD is aiming at with their new RX470.

Two days ago we received an RX470 ourselves, not the reference model, but a slightly overclocked PowerColor edition. Due to my busy worksheme I wasn't able to perform all needed tests and writings for a full review in time... That's why I'll just give you some numbers which approve AMD's claim of Brilliant HD Gaming in the next graph:

If you ask me, I'd say that their submission passed our expectations. Closing in to the reference RX480 which is only slightly faster, you can say that this card, definitly packs a punch for its price.

That said there're still some other real astonishing facts about the card. While it only consumes 120Watts of power, it outperforms similar specced predecessors (32 CUs, 2048 SPs) by quite a margin.
