It’s been a little more than a month since Minecraft’s PS3-port came out and it has already been sold more than a million times. This is a lot for a game that is exclusively for sale by download.
The number of a million sold games was communicated to the press last Friday by Mojang, the company behind Minecraft, and this being only five weeks after releasing the PlayStation 3 edition. It is extraordinary for a game, only available in the online stores of Playstation, to be downloaded this much in such a short period. In the beginning Minecraft was only meant as a pc game, later Mojang made an Android edition as well as an iOS and an Xbox 360 Edition. Now it was time for the PlayStation 3 to follow.
In the game your goal is to completely design and build your own world using cubes which you have to collect first. If you are more of an adventurous player, you can play survival and try to escape or kill all kinds of monsters. But if you are more of an architect you should play creative and set your imagination free. This is what makes Minecraft such a dynamical game and this is probably why it is so popular.
Mojang has promised us a number of improvements for the PS3-edition of the sandboxgame, however until now it isn’t known what kind of improvements Mojang has in mind.
